God's Warning to Haman

Esther 6:11-14 :

Then Haman took the clothing and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and had him ride through the city square, and proclaimed before him, “Thus it shall be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!”

Mordecai came back to the king’s gate, but Haman hurried to his house, mourning and having his head covered. Haman recounted to Zeresh his wife and all his friends everything that had happened to him. Then his wise men and Zeresh his wife said to him, “If Mordecai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of Jewish descent, you will not prevail against him, but you will surely fall before him.” While they were yet talking with him, the king’s eunuchs came, and hurried to bring Haman to the banquet that Esther had prepared.

Haman's wife made a complete turn in her advice and actually warned her husband to stop coming against Mordecai. She even said it was because he was Jewish, as Haman's wise men did also. Important people around him were warning him of danger, but it does not appear that Haman was ready to change. He was extremely angry when Mordacai wouldn't bow, stand or move in his presence. Could it be that Haman was pushed to his limit when he had to parade Mordecai around town? Perhaps this was the moment that God was trying to use to get through to him.

The amazing thing I see about what we read here, is that God gave a man like Haman a chance. God loved Haman enough to warn him, just like he warns all of us. God may laugh at sinners, but He intends to save them from their foolishness. I believe that this shows us that His laugh is intended to embarass a man enough to cause him to repent. Underneath God's laugh, is a cry for the soul of man. God knew that before He ever created the world, He was going to love mankind by dying for him. Sin is not able to stop God's love for us, but those who continue to refuse Him, will not be saved.
